300 Stone Sheep at Lambakogu<\/h2>\n

In the tiny village of Karala in western Saaremaa, an exciting and original surprise awaits visitors: Lambakogu<\/a>. Here, you will feel as though you have stepped into an animated film as you walk among 300 stone sheep.<\/p>\n

These sheep are not simply standing around\u2014each one has its own role and task. Some sit in parliament, while others dance at a traditional song and dance festival.<\/p>\n

Adults will find plenty of political humour to enjoy, while children can have fun discovering the amusing sheep. Lambakogu also has a playground. Gardening enthusiasts can visit Lilian\u2019s flower garden, admire the different blooms and take beautiful photographs. During the summer, the Lambakaubamaja shop also welcomes visitors.<\/p>\n

Saaremaa is well known for its Viking-era discoveries. Would you like to become a Viking for a day? If so, a trip to Asva Viking Village Adventure Park<\/a> is well worth taking.<\/p>\n

The Viking village offers something for visitors of every age and provides an excellent opportunity to put away the screens and travel back in time.<\/p>\n

The adventure park welcomes you with an authentic Viking atmosphere: wooden buildings, crackling fires, tempting aromas of food and the ringing sounds of the blacksmith\u2019s workshop. The whole family can practise archery, climb on the adventure trail, pet animals and take part in role-playing games.<\/p>\n

The Enchanting Windmills of Angla<\/h2>\n

If you would like to experience something ancient and historic, visit Angla.<\/a> Here, an impressive collection of windmills awaits you.<\/p>\n

There are five windmills in total, all built at the beginning of the previous century. Four are traditional Saaremaa post mills, while one is a Dutch-style windmill.<\/p>\n

Visitors can step inside two of the windmills. You can also explore historic agricultural machinery and meet farm animals and birds. Windmill Hill also features a museum introducing local folk culture, along with a caf\u00e9 and souvenir shop. It is also a lovely place to enjoy a picnic with your companions.<\/p>\n

Pihtla Brewery \u2013 Estonia\u2019s Oldest Microbrewery<\/h2>\n

If you are a beer enthusiast, be sure to visit Pihtla Brewery<\/a> during your trip to Saaremaa. Established in 1990, it is Estonia\u2019s oldest microbrewery.<\/p>\n

In the beer room, you can book a guided tour with a tasting. Along with learning about the brewery\u2019s history, you will gain insight into the brewing process, while the guide introduces you to Estonia\u2019s craft beer scene.<\/p>\n

During the tasting, you can sample different beers, including Viikingi Karje, as well as Saaremaa\u2019s famous traditional farmhouse beer.<\/p>\n

Exotic Animals at Saaremaa Zoo<\/h2>\n

If you are visiting Saaremaa with children or simply love animals, we have good news: you do not need to travel far to meet them. Saaremaa Zoo<\/a> is located just outside Orissaare, and its residents are eagerly waiting to welcome you.<\/p>\n

What makes the zoo especially enjoyable is that, unlike at traditional zoos, visitors can feed, pet and interact with the animals. It is a wonderful way to introduce children to familiar farm animals while also discovering the zoo\u2019s more exotic inhabitants.<\/p>\n

A caf\u00e9 is located in the zoo\u2019s bird area, where you can enjoy a meal beside the pond in the company of birds and capybaras. The zoo welcomes visitors throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The Medieval Ruins of Maasi Order Castle<\/h2>\n

If you would like to explore the ruins of a genuine Livonian Order castle, visit Maasi Order Castle<\/a>, located near the zoo.<\/p>\n

Although it is not as perfectly preserved as Kuressaare Castle, the atmosphere of the Livonian era can still be felt here. Underground chambers with vaulted cellars await you, while the upper level offers a beautiful view of the sea.<\/p>\n

When you enter the cellar, the lights switch on and swallows fly through the passageways. The ruins are also an excellent place for a picnic.<\/p>\n
